I've always been an avid gardener, growing up that meant helping my father in his large vegetable garden. He would came home every day from April to October, change out of his suit from work and head to the garden. It was the place to talk to Dad, learn about what veggies he was growing and just sit with some silence. His garden to this day is one of my favorite places to be.

When I was able, I've always had a veggie garden. Growing more tomatoes, peppers, herbs than my family of 5 could usually eat. By the end of summer, the garden started to feel like a burden when the kids and I would have wheelbarrows of veg left that we needed to deal with before a frost. One can only stomach canning so many vegetables.

Nearing the end of 2023, I started thinking deeply about what parts of the garden I loved. Trying to plan the next years crop rotation and think what veggies I could plant that my family would eat. On a flight, I stumbled upon the documentary on Floret Flowers and realization hit me. I didn't want to
grow a bunch of veggies. I wanted to grow a cut flower garden.

Fast forward, we moved to a more temperate climate, I reserve a very small raised bed for veggies and the rest is devoted to cut flowers.

Flowers bring such joy. Looking out the window onto the cutting garden, watching the bees, moths, butterflies and hummingbirds flit around the blooms. Early quiet mornings snipping bouquets before the heat settles in. Giving neighbors extra flowers. The joy that changing to a cutting garden has brough to me has been unlimited.

So now, I want to spread joy. We've pulled seeds from our open pollinated cutting garden and want to share that. When in season, we will have fresh stems.
